Career and Technology Foundations (CTF)

East Lake School prepares our students for success in an ever-evolving world by providing opportunities for exploration, skill development, and hands-on learning. Our Career and Technology Foundations (CTF) program for grades 5 and 6 is designed to introduce students to a variety of career pathways and essential skills through engaging and interactive courses.

Program Overview

CTF courses take place from 10:45 am to 11:45 am, Monday through Thursday. This dedicated time allows students to immerse themselves in hands-on learning experiences while still maintaining a well-rounded academic schedule.

Our CTF program is divided into three terms throughout the academic year. During each term, students participate in two different courses, providing them with exposure to a range of topics and skills. In term 3, students focus on one course to delve deeper into a specific area of interest.

  • Skill Development: Each CTF course is designed to develop specific skills and competencies aligned with Alberta Education's CTF curriculum. Students learn practical skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and digital literacy, which are essential for success in both academic and real-world settings.
  • Real-World Application: Our CTF courses emphasize real-world application and relevance, connecting classroom learning to practical, everyday experiences. Whether designing a digital media project, building a prototype, or exploring a new technology, students gain valuable insights into potential career pathways and future opportunities.
