What to Expect in Grade 2

Grade 2 is a year of growth, exploration, and new discoveries. Our passionate teachers create a welcoming classroom atmosphere where students feel valued, encouraged, and inspired to explore the world around them. Here's a glimpse of what your child can expect in Grade 2:

  • Literacy: Building on foundational skills, students will further develop their reading fluency, comprehension, and writing abilities through a variety of engaging activities and guided reading sessions.
  • Numeracy: Math concepts come to life as students dive into number sense, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and problem-solving in interactive and hands-on ways.
  • Science: From exploring the wonders of the natural world to conducting simple experiments, students will deepen their understanding of scientific concepts and develop critical thinking skills.
  • Social Studies: Through stories, discussions, and projects, students will learn about communities, cultures, history, and geography, gaining a broader understanding of the world.
  • Arts and Physical Education: Creative expression and physical activity are integrated into the curriculum through art projects, music, movement, and physical education classes, allowing students to explore their talents and develop healthy habits.

Communication between home and school is crucial for your child's success. Our Grade 2 teachers are committed to keeping families informed and involved in their child's education. Teachers will communicate with parents about how they will share regular, class-specific updates with families.

Our Grade 2 team is here to support you and your child every step of the way. Whether you have questions, concerns, or simply want to celebrate your child's successes, we're here to listen and help.
