Interested in Volunteering?

Education is a collaborative effort that requires the support and involvement of our entire community. That's why we welcome and would love for you to come out – we need your help to make a difference in the lives of our students. Volunteers are important to the success of our many school activities.

  • Impact: By volunteering with us, you'll directly contribute to the success and well-being of our students. Your support can make a significant difference in their academic and personal growth.

  • Community Engagement: Volunteering is an excellent way to get involved in your child's education and connect with other members of the school community. It's a chance to build relationships and work together towards a common goal.

  • Personal Growth: Volunteering provides opportunities for personal growth and development. Whether you're interested in gaining new skills, expanding your network, or simply giving back, there's something for everyone.

Requirements for Volunteering

Please see each section below for what is required to volunteer at East Lake School.

Every school year, volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation which usually is about 30 minutes. Please sign up early as we have a limited number of orientations scheduled throughout the year. Announcements of upcoming volunteer orientations will be made in our weekly newsletter, News From the Nest which is sent out on Fridays.

Different activities are selected for field trips each year to enhance student learning. It is imperative to sign up for one of the orientations early in the school year to avoid disappointment in not being to participate and volunteer for your child's learning opportunity.

Rocky View Schools requires that all volunteers provide a criminal background check. Background checks are considered valid for 5 years. A letter is available at the office and is needed to apply at the RCMP detachment. This check may take several weeks to complete so please make sure you apply for one ahead of time.

Under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation (FOIP), all volunteers are required to commit to confidentiality and fill out confidentiality forms prior to volunteering at school. These forms will be available when you come to the volunteer orientation session.

Volunteers are required to sign in at the office and wear a volunteer badge for security/safety reasons and in the event of a school evacuation. Volunteering is a very rewarding experience and connects parents to their child’s school experience.

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
