Today is the start of Ramadan. Ramadan is a period of prayer, fasting, charity-giving and self-accountability for Muslims. Many Muslims in Canada fast during the daylight hours in the month of Ramadan. The fast is broken with prayer and a meal after sunset. Ramadan ends on June 15 with a celebration called Eid .

East Lake School's Got Talent, That’s right!  East Lake School's Talent Show is On the 15th of June. IF you are interested in auditioning,  classroom auditions for grades 1-6 will be happening before the end of this month ask your Teacher for details. Grade 7-9 auditions will be held on June 4th.. Get practicing.

Nowruz (prounced “no-rooz”), is the name of the Iranian New Year also known as the Persian New Year.   • East Lake would like to congratulate Keelin Balla, Adnan Harb, Lauren O'Bertos &  Emily Steeves who were chosen to play in the Southern Albert Junior Honour Band.  These hard working band students were chosen to represent the best middle school band students in all of Southern Alberta!  Way to go!

Congratulations Grade 6 Girls Basketball for your undefeated season. You worked hard and East Lake is very proud of you.

The grade 6-9 band students are holding a valentine's day bake sale tomorrow. They will be selling a variety of baked goodies from the kiosk during lunch time.  students in grades 5-9 can buy sweet treats from 12;05-12:25 and students in kindergarten to grade 4 can buy from 1225-1245. All treats will cost $1 or $2 each. Money raised will go towards lowering the cost for the Band students' trip to Camp Chestermere and Edmonton. Thank you for your support.
