Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns by writing in the school agenda or by emailing me at abaldwin.

Hi! My name is Amanda Baldwin and I am delighted to be teaching at East Lake School. This is my fifth year teaching, and my first year teaching grade 6 at our school. I graduated from the University of Calgary in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a minor in drama/fine arts.

In April 2012 I graduated from the University of Calgary with my Bachelor of Education degree, specializing as an elementary generalist. This past June I completed my Masters in Education degree, with a focus on 21st century leading and learning. I am so excited to convocate this November! I myself attended Rocky View Schools, and have experienced the benefits of this school board firsthand as both a learner and a teacher. I am very passionate about teaching, and am very excited to be a part of this dynamic team!

Not only does a wonderful teacher have a deep-rooted passion for teaching and learning, but also has a genuine love of life. My goal is to ignite a passion for learning in my students and foster growth and student curiosity. I believe that the best teachers are those who have a deep-rooted passion for life, and take the time to celebrate with their classes. I believe in doing the little things for my students to make the classroom and learning engaging, meaningful, and exciting.

I believe that in order for students to effectively learn about the world around them, they must be presented with interesting ideas, questions and notions to think about. It is through inquiry, observation and discovery that students learn to formulate their own perspectives about the world, and I believe a teacher's job is to guide and inspire them as they seek knowledge. I am thrilled to be a part of your child’s educational journey; I know we will accomplish amazing things together!

Communication: In addition to weekly home emails, our class has a blog this year, which allows us to share our learning experiences with families. Please email me at abaldwin@rockyview.ab.ca to receive the password to access the blog.
